AD2PI - Can Receive but Can't Send

Postby B69CA » Wed Oct 28, 2015 11:37 am

Hi Guys,

Sorry if this has already been posted before. I have an AD2PI module which has been working flawlessly. However I was recently playing with sending data directly to the serial port and now seem to have an issue.

I seem to be able to receive data without an issue, I can see for example the panel status through ser2sock on port 10000.

My challenge however is that I no longer appear to be able to send. If I send a key, it seems to take a really long time and never actually seems to send.

Has anyone seen this before?

Cheers,
Jon

Make sure wiring didn't come loose
Make sure address didn't change
Make sure panel is capable of receiving on address ad2pi is set to

Thanks Kevin,

It was indeed the address. Something seems strange too because each time I power off the device (the pi) and power it back on again it seems to loose the address. Is this normal?

Thanks,
Jon

No, that's not normal. How are you setting the address? Through web application or through direct serial access? If you are using a network appliance with the web application and are setting the configuration through direct serial access, the web application will override the settings with what is in its database.

I actually have always set it using the Alarm Decoder panel app for OS X. I will try with straight serial access and have a nosey to see if I can figure out what's going on.

Thanks for your help Kevin,

Are you using our raspbian image or did you build it up from scratch?

I've seen the settings get messed up if the serial console isn't disabled. Steps 3 & 4 under Manual Configuration in our wiki detail how to do that.
