alarm decoder and honeywell/ademco 5883 receiver

Postby kepler1619 » Mon Nov 21, 2016 7:22 am

Hi,
I've got a system that uses Honeywell/Ademco 5800 series wireless components, but doesn't actually have a keypad bus. I would like to be able to monitor the events from the 5800 sensors and saw that Honeywell/Ademco makes a receiver (5883) that's supposed to connect to the keypad bus for panels that don't have wireless. Has anyone tested directly connecting the alarm decoder to a 5883 receiver without an alarm panel? Does this seem like something that could work, or would a full alarm panel with a keypad bus be required?

Thanks!

Hi, I'm afraid this wouldn't work, you will need an alarm panel that supports keypad bus connections.
Not an employee of the company. Just here to help and keep things clean.

People have done this before. Buy a old panel 15p etc. Connect it to an AD2* and a 5883 receiver and you will get RFX messages for every 5800 sensor within 100 yards(ish) and you do not have to program anything into the panel. It could even be a locked out panel :)
