If they've truly locked it, there really isn't a way without compass and the CSID etc which they won't give you. Well, if the alarm was armed or alarming before being powered down you may have one last chance before determining it is locked out. If it was in this state, press and hold the * and # keys BEFORE powerup and continue to hold. If this doesn't get you into programming mode then sadly you've got not much going for you.

Now, you could potentially pick up a new prom chip off ebay for the alarm board and get in with compass + alarmdecoder with default CSID values (first time connect) - but that's just a thought, nothing I've tried personally.

The system is not armed, I have tried # * to no avail.

Are there different locking methods?

I actually do not see a prom on the board, mine has a P87C51RC which is a OTP processor and that would be a lot of work anyway...

If it is truely locked, do I then need more than the installer code?

I have no desire to get paid monitoring, I am looking to use openHAB, some nest devices and locks (type yet TBD)

Yeah, there are different locking methods - otherwise it might be hard for the likes of ADT to retain customers. There is a prom on the board - https://www.alarmdecoder.com/wiki/index ... vision.png

But yeah, sounds like you might be better off purchasing a replacement Vista20p and reconnecting and programming your existing zones.

Well that is not my board (all the more reason to replace it)

Mine has no PROM... I work in electronic manufacturing...

Yep looks like a 20SE panel with a 5800 radio. Good panel. SE so not as good as the P. But 2 partitions. Set ad2* to address 31 and it should be good.

It looks like the AC adapter is half connected? What's that disconnected wire on terminal block 2?
Its AC so It will work like this but not a good thing.

It may be a nice panel, but the installer lockout is enabled and ADT won't release the system to me.

When the system sits idle for 5-10 mins the keypad starts beeping over and over, it does react when a zone is tripped and then resumes beeping...

That is why the A/C and (dead) battery are disconnected right now...

The system also has the Power Up # * entry method of going into programming disabled

So it may be simplest to replace the system...

Well I have a new panel, a 20P with WA3000-9.12 firmware.

Found that the keypads had Ground and DI swapped.
Fixed that and the Chime sounds a lot better.

But it still seems I can't get the installer code with * and #

After power up and the Disabled step 4 Mins later the keypads start beeping over and over

Not sure what that means, I think that if I have the battery attached and hit a key it will stop.
(If battery is dead/disconnected it keeps going)

Tomorrow I am going to remove the keypads and try using my AD2USB as the primary keypad (address 16)

The default installer code on a factory panel is "4112"

Progress!

I took a look at the AD2USB connections and I had wired it the same as the (incorrectly wired) keypads.

Fixed that and now the keypads work ok, was able to power up # and * and get into program mode.

Sadly this also suggests that I did not have a problem with the old 20SE panel... oh well... I have a new one now LOL

But... the AD2USB is still not connecting to the panel.

When I connect I get

tom@w2vy:~$ screen /dev/ttyUSB0 115200
[screen is terminating]

Later I will dig into this closer...

One Critical question.... if I swapped GND and DI (Green and Black) would that harm the ad2usb?
That is what was wrong with the keypads...
