Feature request: Twilio Calls

Postby 0xDECAFBAD » Thu Mar 10, 2016 7:32 am

I'm a new Alarm Decoder user and I love the product. The many notification options are great. The Twilio text message notification is fine for arm/disarm/low battery etc but if my alarm is triggered I would really want a phone call since it's a lot harder to miss/ignore than a text. I would think it wouldn't be terribly hard to implement the Twilio call API and use Flask to serve up TwiML. Use the "Say" statement in the TwiML page to have a message read to the recipient based on the alert. Does this sound like a possibility? The hardest part is probably serving the TwiML which would require port forwarding on the user's part.

This would be very low on our priority list if we added it to our own development - but it is open source so feel free to have a crack at implementing it!

I went ahead and added it to the TODO list to investigate the next time we make a pass at improving the notifications.

Hi,

Just to let you know that in the next version there will be TwiML outgoing calls - all you will have to do is make sure you have a "simple message" twimlet access and point the notification to that twimlet url.

Awesome! Didn't think this would be implemented. Now where is the Z-Wave version of the product :D
