Debugging Keypad comm error

Postby jb170 » Wed Feb 24, 2021 5:54 pm

On the device test page, my device is not passing the 'send' communication:

Opening device ✔
Saving device configuration ✔
Keypad communication (Send) ✘ Check wiring and that the correct keypad address is being used.
Keypad communication (Receive) ✔

I've checked wiring. I'd like to put the 4 wires on a scope to see if I can figure out if the problem is my Honeywell board or the alarmdecoder
board.

Are there any details on what I should see? Thanks.

The AD2* has a built in debugger with the latest beta firmware so if you are having issues on the bus this will already let you see it.

What is the alarm panel model? DSC or Ademco?

As for the error I would prefer to see actual communications with the AD2* and not from the Web App.
Try using putty and connect to port 10000 on your Pi to see raw communications with the AD2*.
Send a V command to confirm the version as well as the C command and just press enter to keep the current config.
Send me the results of these commands.

If this all checks out and you checked your wiring and watched the HowTo video on how to wire we may need to do some debugging so you will need to load the updated firmware. Probably not a bad idea in any case as it is the most recent and stable for a long time now.

Thanks @mathewss for the help.

I'm running an old Ademco Vista board.

Running V and C gives me the following:

Code: Select all
V
!VER:ffffffff,V2.2a.8.8,TX;RX;SM;VZ;RF;ZX;RE;AU;3X;CG;DD;MF;L2;KE;M2;CB;DS;ER;CR

Code: Select all
C
!>
!CONFIG>MODE=A&CONFIGBITS=ff05&ADDRESS=19&LRR=N&COM=N&EXP=NNNNN&REL=NNNN&MASK=ffffffff&DEDUPLICATE=Y
!Reading configuration.
!UART init.

I thought I had successfully used address 6 in my system but that didn't work nor 19.
