AlarmDecoder WEB Interface Feature Requests

Postby CF86336 » Tue Oct 20, 2015 10:30 am

Apologies if this topic already exists.

I'd like to suggest a feature for the AlarmDecoder WEB Interface: In the main notifications list, provide a master enable/disable checkbox or equivalent for each notification entry. Reason: We have one zone, a water heater leak detector, that I'd like to have trigger emails and text messages all the time. So I'd like to set up a notification for that one zone. We have about 16 other zones and associated notify-on conditions that I'd like to have trigger emails and text messages when we're away from home for an extended period, but I'd like to be able to quickly enable/disable those.

Also, if it is not already possible, I'd like to be able to specify multiple destination addresses for a given notification, when appropriate, e.g. my and my wife's email and text message addresses. The way I've got it set up now is that I have a separate notification for each address, which are for the most part duplicates of each other except for the destination address.

Thanks!

With the ability to filter zones from notifications, you should be able to exclude your water zone from most notifications and create a notification just for that specific zone (remove all zones from list except the zone you want to monitor)

But I do see the need/want for enabling and disabling notifications, so this will go on our list

I've not tried, but you can potentially do a comma separated list of emails as the recipient

Hey there,

So as I am working on these requests, I did test and confirm that on email notifications, multiple recipients is already supported - you just do a comma separated list of emails (up to 255 characters) for the destination field. Due to API's and such, email is the only reliable multi-recipient notification type. If you need text to phone through twilio for example, I suggest making two separate notifications (this is where the below cloning feature will come in handy)

What I have done on our local branches are:

Ability to copy notifications for ease of cloning with minor differences between the two notifications

I am working now on the ability to enable and disable a notification.

Thanks. I tried a comma-separated list of email addresses before seeing your reply, and am happy to say it works! Also, I found that emailing to text on a phone on AT&T's network using <phone number>@txt.att.net also seems to work, but I'm not certain it works 100% of the time--need to do more testing. It works in a multi-recipient notification. I would expect that emailing to text on a Verizon phone using <phone number>@vtext.com would also work, but I'm not a Verizon customer at this time.

I'd like to expand on what the previous poster's have already asked for regarding disabling notifications. It would be great if there was a single check box on the web interface to disable ALL notifications, whether for a specified amount of time, or until re-enabled. My situations were a little different as I had a contractor working on my home while I was at work and they were constantly going in and out, and another time with a room mate moving in and out, enabling and disabling the alarm several times during the day. It was a bit embarrassing constantly having to check my txts at the office 40-50 times during the day. Thanks for your consideration.
