Vera Plus, Vista 20P help

Postby tamorgen » Mon Apr 04, 2016 5:08 am

Good morning,
Last week I finally got my new Vera Plus to replace my ADT Pulse for z-wave home automation. I wired the AD2USB to my alarm panel, which is a Honeywell/Ademco Vista 20P, ran the alarm wire from the basement where my alarm panel is to my wiring closet, where the Vera Plus is, and hooked up the Vera Plus to the AD2USB. That's about as far as it gets. I've tried adding the AD2USB device to the Vera apps, but the Vera app provides the following errors:

"Ademco Vista Plugin Can't Detect Device"

and

"GET_LANG(system_error,System error) : Device: 48. Fail to load implementation file D_Codeset_1086.xml.lzo
Ademco Vista Plugin : No keypad assigned to partition 1."

I'm sure there may be several issues, but the first one is likely the Keypad address. The problem I am facing is I don't know what my current keypad is set to. I have a Honeywell/Ademco 6160 keypad, and that's the only keypad I have. I tried going into the reviewing mode for the keypads (once in installer mode), by pressing #190, #191, #192, etc, for all of the keypad addresses, and it appears that they are ALL enabled. Each time I press one of the #19x commands, I get 01, followed by 00. My understanding is that 01 means it's enabled, so it doesn't really tell me much. I know you can determine the keypad address by power cycling the system, but it's a hassle to get back to the keypad from the basement in 30 seconds. Is there another way?

Okay, figured this out. My keypad is set to Address 17. So the default address of 18 should work just fine.

Once that is done, what else am I facing? Most of the wiki's and FAQ are written towards older versions of the Vera software (U15, I believe). I believe I have U17 with the Vera Plus. How is this going to be different?

Thanks for any advice you can give me.

First, get AD2USB working on a PC with our keypad software - that will eliminate any issues with our device during setup so you can focus on setting up the Vera and not worry if our device is working or not. We send instructions for setting up on PC.

The UI5 instructions for setting up AD2USB with Vera work, you just have to correlate where things are different places in UI7.

First step is getting device to work on PC, second step get it working with Vera - their support forum and staff (you can call them!) are good with setting up our device on their system.

Figured that is what you might say. It's unfortunately the one thing I can't do remotely. I'll have to wait until I get home after work.

One thing I noticed in their wiki, is the "Cheat Sheat" for setting up sensors. It appears that you need to have all the serials numbers of the devices to set them up. If they are already set up on my alarm panel, is this something I can grab via the A2USB link?

Yeah, our PC software will show the serial numbers in the log window when triggered

Kevin,
I got my Vera to interface at long last, but I still need to retrieve the configuration of the alarm panel, so I can setup the sensors and such. How do I do this? I have both Putty and your virtual keypad working.

Using our software, you can trigger a "zone" (or motion) and all its information will appear in the log window, such as !RFX:0180036,80 where 0180036 is the serial of a sensor.
