Considering getting the AD2PI - is it right for me?

Hi,
I have a DSC System and I am considering getting the AD2PI. I invested in the Envisalink 3 and frankly, I have not been impressed. It doesn't seem to be built for the programmer.
I am hoping the AD2PI fits the bill. In short, I am looking for a device that can hookup my existing DSC alarm system so that I can programmatically do things like arm and disarm my alarm system. I don't want to send text messages but would rather like to be able to send Pushover messages. Pushover has a Python API, so I am hoping this should be pretty easy.
However, I want to take it a step further and be able to setup a chain of things to happen when my Raspberry Pi detects that the DSC alarm state changed. For example, I want to be able to programmatically turn on a light in the house. I know how to turn on the light in my house using a relay and python, however, I want to make sure that I can programmatically 'hear' the DSC panel via the AD2PI using Python.
I also want to be sure that I can run my scripts to automate actions based on my alarm state while simulataneously being able to run the web interface that seems to be available.

Thoughts? Is the AD2PI the device I should be buying?

Sounds like the AD2PI is right up your alley. With our python API and other related projects found here: https://github.com/nutechsoftware you can make a robust system. Yes, you can do exactly as you describe, just follow the examples given in the library. You also get a lot of this functionality out of the box if you use our webapp.

Do note that we are looking at adding pushover and IFTTT support to our webapp in the future.

With the webapp and our image, the AD2PI interface is exposed over ser2sock to your network - so you can use our library to connect to a network device to do custom things outside of the webapp - and not have to have multiple devices and/or figure out how to share a single serial port between multiple "scripts"

I am considering the same for my DSC PC5010, however I do not have any user or admin codes for the DSC system, and the vendor who managed it for the former home owner is no longer available to give me codes. Will I still be able to get into the system and take it over with the AD2PI?

Possible to get the keypad working on the DSC, but as far as takeovers? Not like Ademco in that regard, so I am unsure if this will help you at this time.
