Vista 20sea - Not receiving messages from panel

Hello,

I just set up my AD2USB and I am able to send commands via Putty and the GUI. However, it appears that the AD2USB is unable to receive any information from the alarm.

-I have a Vista 20sea (which I assume is the AU version of the Vista 20se).
-Keypad address is set to 31 as required
-I have double checked the wiring, particularly the DI cable and this does appear correct to me.

GUI Log output is as follows (please ignore the timestamps - I dusted out an old laptop for this! :) )

Code: Select all

The panel manual I found looks like its just an SE panel and supports the same keypads. Do you have an ALPHA keypad on the system or just the 2 digit display types?

The configuration looks good. I would triple check the wiring it could be a swapped yellow and green or a bad wire.

Hi Sean,

Thanks for the reply and suggestion. I only have the 2 digit display panel.

I'll take another look at it when I get a chance and report back.

Ok I've triple checked the wiring for this and it certainly appears to be correct:

GND wired to 4
12V wired to 5
DI wired to 6
DO wired to 7

I have used a short length of Cat5 cable to wire the AD2USB to the Alarm unit, which I know isn't ideal, but I am 99% sure this is wired correctly.

I tried swapping the DI and DO connections which results in me no longer being able to send (and receive) commands to the alarm from the GUI (or putty). Wiring back to how I have it results in commands being able to be sent to the alarm but no status messages being received.

Any other suggestions that I could try?

I just noticed this diagram on the back of the cabinet which indicates this may be a Ademco 4110DLa. The manual and seperate installation guide that the previous owners gave me was for a Vista 20SEa, hence the confusion.

Would this be any different if this was a 4110DLa? Would this be the same issue as discussed in viewtopic.php?f=3&t=73&p=296&hilit=4110DL#p296?

I'm intending to configure this to email me when the alarm is triggered (Gmail via stunnel), with VNC access to remotely arm/disarm the alarm.

Thanks again.

Unfortunately it looks like this is a non alpha panel. So while you can send to the panel the panel produces no alpha messages to show on the AD2*. I have been trying to get my hands on one of these very old panels to try and add at least the 2 digit display although it would be minimally useful for some with this panel at least they could get arm disarm and alarm state messages with some work on my end.

If / when you replace this panel please send it my way. Your best bet will be to find an inexpensive 10 or 20 SE on ebay or upgrade to a 20P. It is likely that your keypads will not work with the 20P but they "may" work with a 10 or 20SE panel so the 10 or 20SE is your least painful upgrade.

That's unfortunate to hear. I would be unlikely to replace this panel any time soon as this would involve having this sent over from the US.

Hopefully you can get your hands on one of these panels at some stage in the future and add in that functionality. I'll keep an eye out for updates.

Thanks for your help Sean. Its great to see that your product is so actively supported by yourselves.

I've managed to get my hands on a Vista 20p but just have a quick question regarding one of the connections.

Any idea where the light blue cable connected to "Strobe Drive" on the 4110DL should connect to on the 20P?

Sean, it looks like I have a 4110DL that is a non-alpha (its not a 4110DLa). I can send fine but receive times out. I was wondering if you ever made any progress adding support for 2 digit display types (as you mentioned above)?

Thanks,
Len
