I can't attest to anything in the above. But this week I did start having problems with AOL mail. Turns out they're merging with some other company. I'd been using iptables on my AD2PI and had let the old AOL servers talk based on IP address, but didn't know about these changes until mail started becoming intermittent/delayed. I decided to drop the IP filtering altogether and just let NEW,ESTABLISHED tcp to the AOL mail port out and ESTABLISHED,RELATED from that port back in. Working again. (iptables is not an AD default config).
