I updated the apps. The push notifications work well. Zones update within seconds in smart things. Thanks!

Does this update also address the need to reverse the open/closed sensors for the zones in smart things app?

Yes, you can now set the open/closed value in the setup when you configure the smartapp in the Smarthings development environment.

Anyone getting time out error on testing after installing the update?

Webapp is showing the following:

Device Testing
Opening device ✔
Saving device configuration ⚠ Test timed out.
Keypad communication (Send) ⚠ Test timed out.
Keypad communication (Receive) ✔

Check that your settings didn't change and your wiring didn't come loose.

I'm still seeing the refresh behaving pretty slowly (refreshing every minute). What needs to be done to get it to refresh in seconds as people here are describing?

Make sure you've entered the API endpoint and token correctly. It is also possible that you have to uninstall and reinstall the service manager in the SmartThings IDE to make it update. I don't quite remember.
