Honeywell 5800 Wireless Support

Hi All,

Just found this site and I need to make I understand how the AD2PI works with wireless 5800 sensors:

1. It is required to have an alarm panel.

2. The AD2PI board does NOT have any 345 MHz wireless transceiver chips on it that allow it to decode the messages from the 5800 wireless sensors directly.

3. The AD2PI gets information about these wireless sensor alerts via the panel.

Is that all correct?

The reason that I ask is that I'm about to put together an RF/PI module to decode the 315 MHz, 345 MHz, and 433 MHz messages from the various alarm sensors from Honeywell/Ademco/2GIG, DSC, and friends.

If the AD2PI already does this direct wireless decoding, then that saves me quite a bit of work.

Otherwise, I get to decide whether it's better to just buy a cheap panel to interface with AD2PI, or press onward with finishing the wireless decoder project.

Thanks,
Bob

The panel gets this information from a radio board, either added to the alarm panel itself, or found in the keypad (ex: 6160RF). The AD2Pi then gets this information from the panel if present.

Ok - thank-you for clarifying that.

As far as panels go, which would be most supported: Honeywell L5210, L7000, Lyric, or the 2-GIG GC3?

Great work BTW, on the AD2PI!

I suggest a vista 15 or 20p connected to a 5800 receiver. Then connect the AD2 on the bus connected to the receiver and you will be able to see all messages from any 5800 sensors in the area and use them for automation. No programming is necessary in the example just connect the panel to the radio and the AD2* and power it up.

I happened to see about Honeywell Lyric in an article http://protectionplus.ca/blog/introducing-next-generation-security-system-honeywell-lyric/ . They claim to listen to commands it seems. Looks interesting. Anyone who has experience using this commercial service package? Are they reliable? Is it happening? Where can I find this product?
